Expanded ManCom Convenes at Panay

The Expanded Management Committee had a meeting last April 10-12, 2017 at Panay Conference Hall. Thirty six (36) members of the expanded management committee participated in the meeting, and discussed the groups’ accomplishment reports. Some issues were also presented and resolved.

KMBI President and Vice Chairman, Mr. Eduardo C. Jimenez, led the Command Meeting on the first day. On the following day, Transformational Development and Training Group (TDTG) Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Hazel Christine R. Bayaca, facilitated a SMART Writing Seminar to help KMBI staff in writing more effective memoranda and formal letters.

To top off the 3-day meeting, the orientation on the Gideon Program happened on the last day as facilitated by the Training Department Director, Mr. Anselmo Edwin B. Aruelo.

The Gideon Program is a five-day “value-matching” exposure program that goes alongside the recruitment process of KMBI, intended for all aspiring applicants, specifically for Program Officers. The program is designed to help applicants understand the main business of KMBI, and what kind of work they would be doing once hired. Being knowledgeable about the nature of their would-be job at KMBI would let them assess if their values are matched to the mission and vision of the organization, thereby lessening attrition rate and fostering satisfaction at work.

Davao Area Orients Leaders with 21st Century Leadership Styles

Twenty-two staff from Davao Area prepped themselves to up their leadership capacity as the area mounted a re-echo training on “New Leadership Style for the 21st Century” on March 10, 2017.

Held at Eagles’ Ridge, Upper Ulas, Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City, the activity was joined by 10 Program Unit Heads and 12 promotable Program Officers. Regional Director for VisMin Operations, Ms. Amelita T. Andilab, graced the event.

Seven modules encapsulated the seminar: Core of Leadership; Self-Mastery; EQ Leadership; Positivity and Optimism; Conflict Management; New Leadership; and Wrapping it All.

The new leadership style is grounded on the relationship between the management and staff, with emphasis on the Emotional Quotient over the Intellectual Quotient. This will guide employees in their decision to hire or promote an individual.

The re-echo training aimed to deepen the participant's appreciation for self-mastery. This is perceived as the foundation for becoming better leaders as well as the honing of emotional intelligence. Through these critical skiils, participants are expected to adopt and develop an appropriate leadership style that fits employees of the 21st century.

HO holds Annual Disaster Management and Fire Drill

45 KMBI head office staff and Valenzuela Branch personnel attended the annual Disaster Management and Fire Drill last March 23, 2017 at the Valenzuela head office.

Invited Red Cross representative, Denver Llarenas, gave a brief talk on First-aid training and CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Meanwhile, Valenzuela Bureau of Fire Protection Officer 1, Elenette Asis, provided refresher tips and points for fire safety and prevention. Ms. Asis also helped facilitate a simulation drill after the discussion to test how much was absorbed during the orientation.

Davao Holds Leadership & Enterprise Summits for Program Members

The Transformational Development and Training Group (TDTG), formerly Client Services Group, together with the Credit Operations Group, provided new learning opportunities for 140 center leaders during the first Center Leaders' Conference (CLC) last March 23, 2017 in Davao City.

Armed with the theme, "Empowering Women, Transforming Communities", the CLC was divided into three modules pertaining to social, economic, environmental, and spiritual development. This was followed by a marketing workshop and orientation to one of the organization's most extensive spin-off, the KMBI Development Foundation, Inc. (KDFI) led by Mr. Reginold de los Reyes, Program Director of KDFI.

In her opening remarks, TDTG Deputy Executive Director, Ms. Hazel R. Bayaca, was confident the CLC will produce a positive effect on the mindset of Program Members towards becoming better and more efficient community leaders.

Transformation Coordinator, Ms. Rocelyn Magallanes, administered the modules on Environmental Awareness and People Management. On the other hand, Entrepreneurial Development Services Officer, Mr. Rico B. Antion, equipped the participants with financial literacy. KMBI also facilitated a livelihood workshop to teach the Program Members how to maximize their resources for profit and how to properly market their products.

KMBI, in partnership with Unilever, KMBI Development Foundation Inc. (KDFI), and APPEND, commenced the Kabisig Summit on the following day, March 24, 2017. The activity, held at the Alternative Marketing Center (ALMACEN) in Davao City, was a first for KMBI Program Members. The summit had the theme: “Bagong Taon, Bagong Pagkakataon”; and aimed to bring together a community of microentrepreneurs, particularly those engaged in sari-sari store enterprises. The activity also included inputs on business management skills and financial literacy through livelihood development programs.
